Why do our temp gauges sit so low???

This is something ive always wondered about Grand Prix's. My dads got a supercharged one with stock everything and its like the gauge barley comes off of the 160-170 marks. and once we did intake gaskets it comes a little bit higher for no reason. Just always been curious why it never comes close to the 210 area on the gauge

that little toy on the dash isnt very accurate either.... id be more interested if you found out that your actual temp was that low

its an indicator...normal is where its always at, if it spikes higher than usual that tells you there's a problem and to start investigating

far better than a dummy light that will only turn on when its already fucked

It's probably covered in shit from the dexcool. My guess is it's at operating temp just doesn't say so. I would ignore it and continue on. As soon as you take a car that old and start f*cking with it you'll find another $2000 worth of crap to replace :rofl:
