So about 3 weeks ago this guy i work with has a 92 honda civic hatch and was doing a B16 motor swap on it (these numbers dont mean shit to me) but he was talking so much shit about how he was going to smoke me and how my car was slow. This is when i was running a 3.4, full 3" exhaust, MSD, Tune, Intake.. Nothing to big so he finished we races 2 times and he LOST both times by like 6 cars :s00ls: Kept telling me he forgot to shift and shit (go figure ricer bullshit) but he told me next weekend well race again so we met up and i just wanted to make this kid cry so i put on my 3.25 pulley on a Top swapped High compression motor without a tune (dumbest thing i could have done). So we were racing for 100 and we went off a light i took off and i smoked him while hearing my car making a FUCKED up noise. I beat him yet again, he said i cheated, never paid, and i blew my head gasket so that leads me to were i am now.

I tore my car down to make sure that was what it was. The front gasket was fine but the rear was the one that i blew. Over the winter i was going to build my car after i bought a beater but since this happened it gave me an excuse to do shit early and use my grandmas truck. So i made a big order into ZZP, and Intense. This is what i bought:

ZZP
130lb Springs
Titanium Valve Locks
Comp Cam Hydraulic Roller Lifters
L32 Powdered metal rods
Rollmaster double roller timing chain
Craddle spacers
Cosmetic Head gaskets
Bocsh IC pump
42.5 lb injectors
Clevite 77 Main, rod, and cam bearings
XP Cam
ZZP front mount heat exchanger
ZZP Longer fuel rails
ARP Main and Head studs
Machined oil pump kit
New gaskets for everything
JE Forgerd Pistons

Intense-Racing
intense racing oil restricted pushrods

Block Work(ERS Machining)
Clean
Magnaflux
Bore .20 over
Hone
Remove balance shaft
Install Cam bearings and freeze plugs
Line bore
Balance everything

Plus i still need a tune!!

search the living hell out of everything... like getting that work done to the block, using those head gaskets... or doing all of this together... its kind of too late, but for what you spent, you could have had a bitchin turbo setup.

I do love different builds, especially m90 ones... and i really hope for the best.

what kind of work do you have done to your trans?

have the machine shop Xray them rods for any occlusions, PM rods are cheeper for GM and just as likely to have internal defects as a cast rod.
make sure you machine and install the RM properly, hopefully they install a screw in plug for the BS oil passage.
have em flycut behind the #2 and 3 cam bearings to enlarge the oil passage past the bearing shells, and then make sure they clock the cam bearing oil holes at the ~9:30 position

Nay sayer here....

I tell this to people all the time that consider this...new parts look shiny and all, but you're looking at 30-50K tops out of a rebuild IF it's put together right...and that's a BIG if.

The way these were put together is a marvel of modern manufacturing, no shop can even come close to how the factory does it.

That being said, simply swapping an L26 shortblock would have put you way ahead. The 4.0 block with the custom crank even requires a custom cam for clearance, and IMHO the gains aren't worth it.

Normal hot rod rules are not black and white in the 3800 world unfortunately! You are best off to see what us poor schlubs did in the past and build off that; you'll save a lot of money and go faster to boot!
