I made a pretty spiffy one out of a pry bar...just drilled a hole at the fulcrum for the rocker bolt. I opened up the claw enough to grab the retainer. If you don't end up finding one...this might be an idea if you have a prybar and can't find a VSC.

x2, I did the same thing and it worked flawlessly. But as Dan said, they're cheap as hell, so buying one wouldn't kill you.

those ARE cheap. we broke one in one use of removing springs from a V8. It was from oreilly OEM brand.

There is a different brand that worked for me but i dont remember.

It wasn't the best made tool i have ever used, but it worked fine for me when i put my LS6 springs in.

Just realized it's probably for a 3800....just borrow one from autozone. That's what I did. Don't forget to get an air fitting to hold those valves up.....or buy some 3/8" rope
