Id stay away from a 97...

But shouldn't be hard to find a new DIC. Rust is the killer, it would only get worse. Id pay $1000+ more and get a "cleaner" maybe newer GTP.

I would at least get a 98. 99-2000s are the best years IMHO. Like PANDA said, rust is the killer on the rocker panels (just look underneath the car (they rust from the inside out), rear shock towers (look inside the trunk near the strut nuts, and underneath the gas cap.

Thanks Tommy, I'll be sure to check those areas. He isnt overly worried about a little rust. He just needs something that runs and that he won't be embarrassed to drive.

Yeah he barely has $2k. We are going to go check out the 97 tonight in Naperville. It has a slight fuel line leak near the rails, will report back with findings when we get back.

Well, he got it. Its pretty beat, he went down to $1500. The leak was sealed with some shit, but its right near the fuel rails so it looks like an easy fix. Needs new SC coupler, but it has brand new tires and brakes. It pulled pretty good and shifted nicely so its at least something to get him to work.
