finally got my motor back together--3/14----ITS ALIVE!!!!

over the winter i pulled the motor out of my car to change the torque converter, while it was out, i also swapped from an xp to a ST4 cam. heres some pictures i took along the way. i test fitted the turbo parts because i wrapped everything, and got new hardware. i also sandblasted and cleared the blower housing and the tb.....lmk what ya think!

they are matts. R stands for race(funny i know). It was designed for cars running a open DP at all times. We have a STR3 for the whores Turbo motor.
Chris Hoenle and Matt M both run the STR4.
Both work better with larger turbos obviously which was why i was asking if you are upgrading.
You have ported heads right? If not then ignore my suggestion
i dont have STR4 specs handy but the STR3s are

nope stock heads...i told matt i wanted the best cam that will work with stock heads, and will allow me to upgrade turbo's and still be in the powerband of the cam.

Does your oil fill cap fit flush on the valve cover? I ordered a set of these a few months back and the cap fits all cock eyed. I contacted ZZP about it and got a reply that more or less said they weren't concerned with it if it wasn't leaking.

The blower case is blocked off where the snout would be and is acting as an upper intake manifold.

Well their is such thing. ZZP makes a twin charge kit for the cobalt.

UPDATE 3-15-09

with the mild weather approaching this week, i couldnt stand to have this car down anymore.

took a couple cases of beer, but between last night, and a couple hours this afternoon we got 'er running again!

a few bugs to work out, but it runs/drive nice. time to start tuning, need to scale the maf for the mod'd maf now...the 3500 stalls performs beautiflly, and the st4 cam is more than streetable! i need to get some 4"-4"od pipe to take the place of the lt1 maf that was in there, i temporarily used a 3100 maf to seal it up. its not pretty, but it doesnt leak. i wont be going over 8psi/50% throttle anywayz....heres the few pics i took, dont rag on me, it looks like crap right now...it'll get better!
