I am located in the NW Chicago area and thinking about offering LIM gasket repair to local members. Not free of course but a fraction of the cost a dealer or shop would charge.

I have seen other member charge $300 not including parts just labor.

I have a garage and the tools to get the work done.

$300 is a little high...I usually do it for much lass than that on a 3800.

A 3100...now that's another story! That takes about twice the time to do.

3800 depend on mods, and whatnot.

Yes, look at it. You can see it by looking inbetween the manifold and head. Black plastic ones look prett grungy if they haven't been changed. If it's aluminum, it certainly was changed.

ask a shop for a quote, 300 is a fraction of what they want and after that there is high potential for rod bearing loss.

i think its reasonable. If the owner/member wants to jump in and wrench then i will work for beer. I have references, lol.

LIM sucks on the 3100. it took a long time and was a bitch on my 96 grand prix. Then had to do it all over again when i found out my heads were warped. what a fucking headache! on my buddies 98 gtp it was cake. Took less than a third of the time!

3100 LIM gaskets suck. Its not $300 is set price for everyone. Of course that can come down depending on how much help i get.

Metal LIM gaskets are $15? IDK about that.
