my buddy has a 2006 gp not a gt and hes always saying he can beat me if i raced him, all i have done to my 01 gt is an intake kit, but i wanted to see if anyone has raced a newer gp and what results you have had , let me know

Honestly i think he cold take you but not by a car length. If im not mistaken his car is a little more advanced w/ the SIII motor and the electronic throttle so his response/take off will be a jump start But it'll be a close one

The gears in the 04+ GTs were not as tall. IIRC they are 3.05 compared to 97-03s 3.29 gears. Plus the electronic throttle and different PCM settings. Id put money on a 97-03 GT VS 04+ N/A GP.

performance wise... Whats the difference between a base 05+ GP and the GTs without the SC other than the dual exhaust

PCM programming and gearing. All in favor of the 97-03 GTs. Ohh, and electronic throttle FTL.

I say its a drivers race, it can also depend on which car runs better.

the only thing i can relly find different in the two is the gearing and the dual exhaust , other than that im not sure what would happen in a race i mean does the gt have a different suspension set up cause that would make a little difference in aero dynamics, i will have to see if i can find a video of the two racing.
