3800 Gas Prices

i passed about 7 gas stations this morning whose prices had gone up at least 35 cants a gallon overnight :angry: :angry: :angry: these all ranged from Western burbs, to palos - in two different counties.....almost all were $3.45 for regular. i KNOW they were $3.08-3.12 the day before.

Shortages/problems effect prices instantly while increased production takes at least 2-3 months to hit the pumps.

But with them going up 35-40 cents people are not changing how they dirve. It still seems that everyone drive alot. From when I get up at 700am till I get home at night 1100pm there is so many people out all day long.

When I left yesterday morning, the Circle K Shell was 3.09, on the way home, 3.47 (for Regular). I was going to go out last night to find a station that was still cheap, but didn't make it out. I did manage to find Super unleaded for 3.48 on the way to work this morning.

Yet we still drive cars that use premium and some with an 8 cyl. I dont think the majority cares... Otherwise, there would be rallys and protests around gas stations and such.

I remember when Gov. Ryan suspended the state gas tax when we hit i think 1.20 years ago.

I say we cut down the number of "blends" that are currently produced for every different region of the country to meet extremely high EPA standards.

The logistics of all the different blends for each region, both summer and winter blends, and add to that the many different grades (87, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, and 94) of gas too!

Really, do we need 7 different grades of OCTANE that close to each other any way???

We need to simplify our delivery system. :angry:

Heard on the news this morning that the latest price increase is due to a pipe bursting at a Whiting, IN refinery. Whether it's true is another thing.
