For those of us here with bikes...how much do you pay for insurance and for what type/amount of coverage? Also what provider are you with?

I used progressive last summer when I had my starter bike. It was a 2001 Ninja 250. I was paying around 38 bucks a month for just about full coverage.

I'd assume if it was a 600cc or more it would be around 60-80.

Damnnnnn. Wow, I want to buy a Gsxr 600 this summer, I hope its not gonna be that much.

I just entered everything through Progressive's site. $96 for the lowest possible coverage on my 2001 R6. I called my family's insurance broker and she is shopping around for me now. One major part is that I really don't want a 12 month term. I only ride the thing 6 months a year. Any suggestions.

I doubt it will be. Thats when I was living on my own, 900CC sport bike, 22 years old. Buy a sport touring bike if you can. Cheaper insurance and they feel alot alike depending on the model.

What do you recommend. I basically have my mind set on a gsxr 600, Ninja zx6-r, R6, and I think thats it. Mind you I'm lookin at probaly 00-02's for the years.

I like the Honda Intercepter. Depending on the year you can get from 750-850 CCs. Newer models come with ABS and a few other saftey options that will get you an insurance break as well.

i have a honda shadow 750 the insurance is like $12 a month. i know slow but its fun to ride

The Shadow 750 is a nice bike. I like cruisers alot more then sport bikes now. WAY cheaper insurance as well.

$297 for the year. i have country insurance, my agents name is karen polychronis in elmhurst. i can give you her number if you want. and when you talk to any insurance agent make sure you tell them the bike is a 599cc NOT a 600. that is a biggie. just a little fyi.
