from 8pm last night we cleaned up my garage (from all the alluminum polishing debris for the l36/67 going into the 442 ;) ) and yanked the front engine from the 442 allofit! and now we are getting the tow dolly to haul the 442 out to storage (till 3800 is done) and get the previously pillaged GP over here for the heart transplant to continue (yay i get to splice only 14wires not too many differences between a 93 and 94 Wbodies

oh and we also scored a great shape lower valence panel for the GP while at wadsworth a week ago

sooo yeah now Al can drive two different W's and get rid of the Ciera!!!!

ohhh yeah....i cant wait to see how the 442 drives on just the rear engine :D

and the next time you see the 442... it will have a very purdy 3800 in the front we already have the blower case polished (working on the snout), drivers side dogbone bracket, alternator and rear tensioner/alternator bracket, water pump, Tchain cover, Tstat neck, and soon the LIM too! got the maf deleted L67 TB, started work on the heads (blocks done just doing a quick cylinder hone) then block and heads are getting hot tanked (after i finish removing all the casting flash) new cam bearings and then it's going together
this is an older pic:

once the 01GPGT harness and PCM and L36/67 are in the front we can finally get going on the rear turbo for the LN3

i love wrenchin'

Regards, James and Al

i'll PM you my new cell # now...right now we gotta get the GP with the tow dolly, by 2 am we should have the 94 harness pinout'd to the 93 firewall conn, and the engine in if not all hooked up

BTW you should see the garage now...soooo many Wbody and 3800 parts everywhere! :lolsign:

if ya wanna come over after the schaumburg meet/etc you can see yourself in the blower B)

oh and it looks like i have 12 wires that i have to re pimout for the 2.4 LQ1 to 3100 swap in the GP

otherwise nearly plug and play (gotta love first gen W's)

Your insane...I love it! lol
[/b]

yes Al and I are ;)

i have to rework the 94 3100 harness c100 connector (w abs) to mate with the 93 3.4 TDC interior harness c100 connector that does not have ABS and the 2nd gear start stuff etc is in different pins...
LQ1 up top, 94 3100 c100 below (oh the joy....i get to play with the 442's harness's next)
LQ1top_3100bottomC100bulkheadconnec.jpg

it's alot cleaner now but here's the patient the fun part will be splicing in the slightly different range switch and trans connector pinouts

well great no passkey II in the 93 so i have to run and get some 555 timer parts for a vats antitheft simulator (the 50hz 50% dutycycle ground pulsed signal during cranking for inj pulse enable)

other than that going nicely....except we left the radiator hoses on the 442, so soon we go to grab it

i actually need to take my measuring tape with me...i'm curious if the LQ1 rad is bigger than the 3100

oh and get this, his wife amanda is actually helping  (you shoulda seen the look on Al's face when she said "i'l help you while Al is at work" i wish i had a camera lol)

she's lucky Al already cleaned all the 14year old debris/oil off!

so aside from some setbacks not bad for a 3.4 LQ1 to 3100 DD swap ;)

well another update, i sorted out the trans wiring by deleting the TCC pwm solenoid (2 100ohm resisters in parallel to ground) so hopefully that wont trigger a check engine light, we had to swap the trans range switch from the 94 60e to the 93 60e (different setups) to make that able to work...no way of rigging the 94 harness/pcm to work with the 93 TRS

had to do some creative bending on the AC lines but we got the 3.4 DOHC compressor and lines to work on the 3100

found that the LQ1 radiator is a bit different and thicker than the 3100 radiator but since we'll be throwing a 3800 in there we'll probably pick up a new 95 regal 3800 radiator for the 442's engine compartment and just leave the LQ1 radiator in the GP

Al's wife amanda soldered the vats passkeyII simulator circuit together so we'll see if she dun did good when we go to start it up in the next couple of days or so...

i also grabbed another cutty 'vert LQ1 strut tower brace for the GP (5$ on half price day) it cost less than the last brace i bought there did!

so far so good :D

ITs IN AND RUNNING! open exhaust at just before midnight :lolsign:
Als93GPrunning.jpg

(the black box on the intake is the PasskeyII signal generator i havent finished finding a place for it)

we have to cut the LQ1 downpipe off the exhaust and throw the 3100 downpipe on it and since we'll be dropping the exhaust to weld the DP on the GP exhaust we're going to go ahead and replace the rusted out OE mufflers for the two flowmaster 40 series mufflers we got from a mustang buddy of ours...

then we put on the good used lower valence panel and strut tower brace...

so we should be ready for a road test late tomarrow night if everything goes as planned (the LQ1 gearing in the trans should make the 3100 quite peppy :D

in all i think that Al will have ~500$ in this nearly mint 110k GP not bad for a nice daily driver and of course the 442's 3100 lives on! lol

nice digicam pics:
