3800 Good price for Dex Cool flush?

I want to get my coolant flushed (power flushed), and refilled with dexcool w/o the lil sealant balls...

Anyone had this done & know a good price to pay for this service?

I had my coolant flushed at Pepboys when 2 lines ruptured by the heater core. They flushed it, and refilled it with dexcool. I changed the thermostat (just because its cheap insurance and Ive had it in for 2 years) and everythings been fine for the past 2-3k.

Dont get Dex-crap..... when they refill it just have them put in the green stuff. Dex-crap eats away at your head gaskets.... Its BAD for your car! i have even had GM mechanics agree.... but they have to use it.

Yea, I haer mixed feeling on that subject... I think I will stick with the dexcool for now... and maybe change over next flush.

I think the price was around $100.. might have been cheaper if I could have waited for a coupon. My car has 137k on it, so.. idk, you decide.

FWIW I never introduced tap water into my coolant, ONLY distilled. They hadnt mentioned any sludge buildup either when they did the flush.

coming from a gm tech standpoint, just so you know, if its serviced correctly, dex cool shouldnt hurt the gaskets and what not, but i do agree if you are having it power flushed, just go back to the green coolant. its cheaper as well.

but what kind of car did the head gaskets go out on at 80k? we do at least 2 head gaskets jobs a week right now, on 3100/3400 motors...first it was the lower intake leaking, now that they fixed that, it starts to leak at the rear head below the powersteer lines. very common, not before of dexcool, but because of poor design of the gaskets

For a true flush you should locate and unbolt a very small bolt on the heads that comes off and lets a ton off junk out. Usually its pretty hard to find/get at and no one if willing to pay for it. You would be amazed at the junk caught in there.

Also, make sure tehy take the hoses of the inlet and outlet of the heater core and blow the hell out of it. Tons of stuff in there.
