Nice ride Mike, what made you choose the V-10 over the Powerstroke?

$10,000!

I'm used to the gas mileage from my F150 so it's actually not that bad. What's disheartening is that I put $75.00 in the tank only to find that it filled it a bit over halfway.

As far as options...

Leather
6 Disc Changer
Heated mirrors
Tow package
Backup sensors
Rear Heat/ AC
Heated seats
bla bla bla... All the normal stuff.

i'm willing to bet that my 68 F250 with a 2bbl 390FE gets the same mileage as you do...and i dont have overdrive :D

then again....i bet mine weighs less than yours... ;)

i remember something about the trans in a ford truck giving out during that meet/raceday? i take it that was a contributor to getting this one eh?

btw 12 > 10

:lolsign:

enjoy the new truck looks nice!

That made me crack-up :lolsign:

I was expecting a Viper 'cause of the V10 caption - you got me ;)
When are you gonna start modding it? LoL
That V10 essentially is the 4.6L with two extra cylinders

Bunch of downers here!

My 95' F150 is my baby. It's getting a full restoration now that it won't see daily duty anymore. Oddly enough, that light truck only got 13 - 14 mpg with it's inline 6 and still towed a trailer easily. It wasn't rated to tow the trailers I pulled with it let alone the trailer and 3000lbs of car.

I did the math for how long I'll own the truck and for me the V10 was the better option. It ends up being cheaper. I'm a huge fan of the Powerstroke diesel but it just wasn't a good option for me right now.

At any rate, I can't wait to start ripping the body panels off the 95'. It should be a completely different truck by summer.

I said it was a nice truck. If you like to piss away money for gas, please piss in my toilet.

I know I shouldnt talk but that truck gets like half the gas mileage as my TA. I hope like spending TONs on gas, it probably costs $150 to fill up that truck.

At least I know you got a good deal on it. I know they cost like $50,000+ new and ive seen some selling for like half that price only a year old.

Im glad your going to be towing a car with it and probably hauling W-bodystore parts. I hate it when I see these bitches driving those things, droping off little jonny and little susie off at school, going to soccer practice, going to Jewel and putting a few bags in there HUGE excursion. Fuck, I hate that shit, its people like that, that drive around in these HUGE gas guzzler trucks that dont even need them making our gas prices so high.

The Diesel truck would have cost more up front, Diesel holds its resale value better...

Glad to see you finally have something to tow with....

They also last a hell of alot longer then normal gas engines. 250K miles is breaking it in from what alot of diesel mechanics tell me.

congrats mike. im buying a new tow truck for the whore soon.
its close, a expedtion with every option, even tho ford sucks

but you cant beat a deal which is why im buying it for 6k with 75k on it
maybe we can race are haulers!
good luck with the gas expenses mike

and its not a 4.6 with 2 more cylinders, its a 5.4(expos motor) with 2 more. both are tritons. the 4.6 was an INTECH,a redesign of the N/A cobra motor.

Apples to oranges... If you don't plan on keeping the truck for 250,000 miles it doesn't matter if the engine is only starting to be broken in. :)

very true...i have had a couple 4.6 crown vics and lincoln that have 230+k miles...they are on their third trans...but it's still the original engine (for the most part) and asside from issues with the earlier spark plug thread heat treating...not many problems are associated with the newer modular motors

however the problems presented by the 6.0 powerstroke i've heard more than a little about... (piston slap/clearance issues relating to the sleved alum block construction and massive cylinder pressures involved in a diesel app)

the old cast iron 7.3 and 7.3 TD are far more reliable...i'm not a big fan of any diesel being made from aluminum...while less weight is a big benifit...engine thermal stability is compromised...thank god the cummins is still all iron...

and mike...thank god ya didnt get a van with a V10...tuneups suck lol

enjoy the truck, besides diesel is more expensive than gas almost everywhere...unless you work on a farm or in construction and have a ready supply of red dye fuel...which modern piezo injectors dont like...and untill biodiesel gets up to speed...i wouldnt be owning a diesel anytime soon either...

From what I hear though, those V10's age VERY well.. supposedly better gas mileage / power higher up in the miles.
