My car has been making a vibrating sound at idle (sort of like metal parts vibrating on other hollow metal parts) sound is coming from the CAT.

You be the mechanic and diagnose.

So what do you think it is?

1. Blew the crap out of the internals in the cat and that is rattling around in the cat?
(RT D/P with hi flo cat about 60,000 miles)

2.Blew some chunks of piston and they got stuck in the cat and are bouncing around. (3.25 pulley, 158,000 miles.)

I will be taking out the plugs this weekend and checking for any damage to the plugs and or pistons.

Funny thing is the still runs good.
It dies once in a while but i am guessing this is due to a clogged cat.

I might have to go WOT a cple times to blew out the rest of the metal stuck in the CAT :lolsign:

I had a cat go bad and it did the same thing...especially when you shut the car off. It would do a last death rattle as I called it.

The monolith inside the cat itself came loose, and lodged sideways. So it was rattling all the time. It was the last straw for me to remove the cat, and bear in mind this cat was barely a year old when it went bad.
