If you are looking at a low-cost performance tire, the Traction T/A is good. It has the largest contact patch for the stock tire size. The Falken Zeix 512 is good also, but a little narrower unless you go with a 235/55/16.

I also had good luck with Discount tires' Yokohama YK420.

i have 420s right now..they are a great all season tire more or less
BFG -KDW's hook great on the street and track
if you are looking for a cheap track tire for decent 60's i would get the stock RSAs or a members old ones with decent tread
with 23-24 psi those things hook pretty good worked great for me, voytec, and 1fastgtp. They layout pretty well with low pressure, balder the better of course (not to bald) thats the cheap way.
im switching to KDW's for day to day and BFG DRs for the track
