3800 Strange Problem - Need Advice

Leaving the city tonight, started my car and the following is happening:

DIC is flashing zeros. Flashing on and off.
Performance Shift light is off.
TCS light stays on, even when I hit the button.

The car drives fine, like normal. All DHP features are still working including the shift pressure, 6k first gear shift, fans stay on like usual after car is off. Everything is fine and drives like normal.

My performance shift button with light (custom) is working. Light goes on and off.

All this tells me the problem is minor, a fuse perhaps?

No SES light, no problems with car ever. Any ideas?

Thanks, that didn't work.

Now the boost display is gone, still flashing zeros, and TCS light stuck on. I think the DIC cluster is shot.

Doesn't make sense. No reason why this should have malfunctioned.

Would Ed Morad carry these? Any other possible solutions I should try first?

You might have a broken wire on the serial bus going from the pcm to the dic. Have you hooked up a scanner and seen if it still functions properly? The flashing zeros tell me that the dic is not revieving the infomation along the serial bus.

JET took out my DIC and replaced it. That was not the problem.

JET tried a scan, will not register.

I took out my airbox and checked the PCM. The tin cookie tray I had was all rusted and one of the four plug connections looks like it is not completely connected. I wonder if this plug is the 'com' port if that makes any sense?

Going to try repacing the tray, cleaning the connectors and reconnecting. My theory at this point is that the one plug that is suspect is the one that is used for the DIC and scanning port.

Worst case, I can see Charles and check out the PCM. I still have my OEM computer that he can flash as a DHP.

Ideas or thoughts beyond this?

Anyone have a MSD tray they are willing to sell? Maybe I can make one out of aluminum from Home Depot.

Car still runs like normal, all DHP features still functioning.

Fuse for the OBD-2 port, maybe is also connected to the DIC? just my guess..

Never did check for fuses. But then again, I've never had my DIC fail me.

Bwaahaha!! Oh, that joke is old.

Did you pull the battery overnight for the heck of it?
