Your probably right though. Gen2 diff = lots o metal shavings in the tranny. Might as well rebuild it to completly remove it all.

no but it means that it is full of aluminum shavings from the prelader plates, and full of bronze shavings

The INTENSE output shaft is also made from a very inelastic material, whereas it should be designed using a material that has a good amount of flex and a high yield stress.
The result of this is increased breakage of things like flexplates and halfshafts, and even converters and drive chains at times.

I'd swap back to the stock output shaft, and diff. Also, have the drive chains inspected for stretch (it might have the soft 7/8" chain in it).

Ditto. The hardened output shaft also accelerates wear on the chain.
