Ok, so Im running some simulation code given to me by a teacher. The code puts out three DAT files. When I open them into WordPad they look like this:

0.0 170650. 173. 563.0 182700. 182700. 158600. 158600. 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0
1.2 168200. 173. 548.9 172924. 171443. 163822. 160162. 19.2 16.0 14.5 19.9
2.6 166984. 175. 531.7 176565. 170510. 165719. 163646. 28.8 18.1 7.1 11.7
3.9 165978. 177. 515.9 172740. 167673. 160471. 161725. 26.6 13.7 13.9 12.1
5.2 164065. 180. 502.7 170542. 166665. 160167. 160632. 28.2 18.3 10.7 10.0
6.5 163195. 184. 488.8 170529. 167866. 159320. 159760. 31.9 25.8 9.7 9.1
7.9 162777. 188. 475.3 170537. 167429. 158675. 158999. 34.7 27.3 9.0 8.6
9.2 162280. 194. 463.3 169634. 166728. 158185. 158481. 35.9 28.4 8.0 7.7

If I try to copy them over to excel, then they dont split to the individual cells. Instead the first row copies to the first cell, and the second row copies to the cell below it, and so on. Is there a way to copy these into individual cells? I cant really do this by hand because there are over 2800 rows of output. So anything that I can do to speed the process along really would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

do the following:

open excel
click data > import external data > import data
select "all files (*.*) from the file types drop down and then navigate to where your file is in the "Select Data Source" dialog box and double click it
from the "Text Import Wizard" select the "delimited" radio button
click next
select the "space" checkbox and unselect any others
click next
click finish
if a dialog pops up asking where to put the data, click OK

done.... you have your data imported in...... :)
