have you heard anything about the reliability of the engine and trans on it?

I dont know about the trans, but the supercharged version only comes in stick. So dont be like the WRX guys or syP and drop the clutch at 6K to get the launch. :lolsign:

I was just reading on clubgp in the RA thread where he was causing shit again and he was saying the internals of the 2.0 supercharged cobalt engine are forged. FWIW.

the car kicks ass, I have an 04' ion redline (the same car but a saturn) and it hauls pretty good with only a cai, and it is a louder sc wine than my regal, you can find them for cheep if you look around I bought my redline for way under sticker brand new I bought in march of 05 so they had all kinds of discounts, and if you find one with the compation package they have a limited slip and a boost guage if interested I am selling mine with 12,000 it is blue with black interior but the inserts in the recaro seats are blue I would like to get 16,000 for it

does carmax honor my discount with GM since i get 5% above cost??? and i want the blue one with the sunroof and the air bag package.......

I don't think they will honor your discount on new. Check it might already be priced at or below that already. When the friends and family came out in the summer we had been priced below that already. MSRP shows at 24130, on the cobalt I told you about. So carmax is 2824 below msrp
I see on 05 GTP with 5k miles on it for 20599. maroon with tan leather.

A cobalt is 25k!!!????

That is a lot of money for a cavalier...........

What part of it is from a cavalier?
25k msrp is another reason to not purchase new!!! Now you see how those guys stay open selling 25 vehicles a month.

The Cobalt is a new, repackaged Cav. It's like what Ford did with the Cougar, but not as dramatic. The Cougar was actually supposed to be the remodeled Probe, but the changed the name and kept the platform.

I also had no idea that the perf Cobalt was that fast. I've read some stuff comparing the SRT4 to the Ion, and everything I've read says the SRT4 eats the Ion alive...

That being said, I'm surprised to hear this about the Cobalt.... 220 hp @ the wheels? Hm

The new G6 is pretty sweet too, have GM released the GTP model of that car? I remember reading somewhere it was NA 250 horse, 5 speed in that model..... I'd consider trading in my GTP for that badboy, actually...

The new GTP G6 is out, i saw one in a parking lot today.

The cobalts are nice little cars, and i guess intense has a few goodies out for them already, and it sounds like w-body store does too. theres gonna be a huge market for parts coming along soon to keep the domestics up with the imports. If you grab the GP, you know the turbo kits are there, and you're gonna make a ton of power in a heavier car. Or you can take the cobalt route, make a little less power, but in a much lighter car w/ a stick. If you want comfort, grab a GP. I'm thinking if you want a go fast crazy ass ride with a stick, go with the cobalt. Either car will be fast for the same money, they just offer it in different ways in my opinion.
