Valentine 1 definetly the best out there.......

i've had 2 Cobra's.

One was a 9 band and worked like a charm.......I would still have it to this day, but some PUNKS stole it out of m y car at Seven Bridges Theater.

So I bought an 11 Band Cobra. Both of them had VOICE ALERT to where it actually says whats around. I love it.

Ebay around 50-80 NEW!!!

if its only 400$ its not the best one out there we used to see some for around 1300-1400$ they can get ridiculously high =/ id rather take my chances with one that cost 1,000 less.......Beltronics makes very good ones....plus the have a LP905 kit avaiable for their upper models that blocks laser radar!

P.S. i had a 100$ cobra....it was about a worthless as a greased up deaf guy screaming random letters of the alphabet in my car..........

but they make some pretty good ones for about 150-180

I used to have a Cobra nine-band radar detector and it was the best $65 I ever spent. It probably saved me a lot of ticket money. The trick with radar detectors is that you have to remember that even with one you still can't drive 30 mph over the limit. You need to drive smart; IF you are going to speed, make sure you can get back to the speed limit quickly without braking too much. Your front end diving is a big giant red flag to a police officer.

Also... police officers find it amusing as hell to screw with people with radar detectors. If, for instance, one were to end up behind you at a light and saw your detector, he might turn his radar on and off repeatedly and giggle as you hit the mute button each time. And don't plan on leniency if you do get pulled over.

I believe that one is the radar JAMMER, which is now illegal in Illinois.

I have a cobra one and it sucks...

I can tell you when theres a fast food restaurant near by since it goes off for those constantly.. and semis tooo thats about it

Do you turn on "city" mode? It filters out a lot of that. But McDonald's and semis? That's odd, because neither of those has what usually will set a false alarm (automatic doors or high-end security systems).

I agree, too bad my V1 got stolen from inside my glove box while parked at the Hyatt.

same here..locked in glove box and stolen. :pissed:
i THINK the tip-off is the suction cup mount..so if ya get a V1 take it inside with you, and take the mount down as well.
i was foolish enought to believe my insurance would have covered it

yea i am looking at a escort 8500.  It seems the best bet even though it is expensive.  Because for the cheaper ones it seems they are either really good or really bad.  Unless someone knows of a good cheap radar they can recommend.  exact models

DONT BE A CHEAP ASS..

A small upfront price for a GOOD RADAR detector should save you maney in the long run..i.e speeding ticket fines..etc etc..
