3800 engine decisions

what do guys think?


1. put the VS cam in a 97k miles engine

2. Swap out engine with new 40k mile block w cam in it.

3. Completely rebuild 40k mile block with newer and stronger pistons, connecting rods, bearings, APR bolts, etc.


BTW, what is the cost on somehting like option 3 off the top of your head?

going with diamond forged pistons, L32 forged connecting rods and new bearings.... all the work probly 2k range...

depending on where you get it done and what parts are used, it will be between $2,000 and $3,000 for option 3

If your gonna go all out on the newer engine, dont throw a VS cam in it. Go either XP or XPZ and make it a monster engine. No need to reinforce an engine for a VS cam IMO.

I dont think I will do a full rebuild......to much for me right now.


Im jsut going to do the cam in the 97k mile engine and get new lifters, springs, rods, timing chain, dampner, water pump, etc..........

I have the Springs, retainers and water pump so far.....
