3800 quick question for anyone

I want to do some stuff on my engine cover...one thing being painting it. Should i use some high heat paint or can i use just regular spray paint or something

i'd go with high heat, 500F. The supercharger gets very hot, and that sits right on top.

Take teh balnket off the s/c and keep her cool...........

then remove the weather stripping on the back of the bay and pull off the felt crap on the underside of your hood.

You could also take the insulation out of the engine cover. Thats what I did when I was modifying mine.

shouldnt you just take the damn thing off? I took mine off, it looks like the only thing it would do is trap heat between it and the m90

dude, take that silly cover off of there. everyone is right about it being a heat trap..dont you want to be able to see your s/c anyway? paint the snout or support ridges on the sides instead

You don't need high heat paint for it. I've measured temps of many, many superchargers. They never get above 180-195 on average.

Really all you are doing is trapping heat........take off all the crap under the hood trapping the hot air.


Take the whole engine cover off, back weather strip and the stuff on the underside of the hood.


A nice benifit is that your engine will sound much louder without all the sound trapping devices locking it in.
