3800 Could use some help finding a beater

Hey, I know I'm still REALLY new to these forums, but I'm trying to find a $500-700 Beater for a first car, I'm in a tight spot, because I'm A ) 17 B ) Parents both use their cars for full-time jobs, and can't afford me wrecking a car C ) Limited budget
Any help, or leads, would be much appreciated, Thank you!!!

Preferably nothing too huge that consumes tons of gas, and I know beggers can't be choosers but I can't afford something that eats gas.

Have you tried Autotrader.com. I will be looking for another car soon myself and have been looking on there. Don't know though if they have anything as cheap as what you are looking for. But give it a try. Can also look in the newspapers, I am sure somewhere you can find a beater.

A car under 1k is pretty much impossible to find online or the papers, even if you see one, its usally sold right away, thats why I was just kinda asking if anyone had one for sale, cause thats the best bet

go to a fiero club forum, you can get those things for like $500, they are like commodities, people buy and sell them and trade them all the time.

i have been searching for the same type of cheap car as yourself . THe truth is , when you do find your 5-600$ car its going to need work soon or thereafter . so save yourself the trouble and save ,borrow or steal a little more cheese to get yourself a little better car .

pick up a 91' - 95' SHO... They're cheap but they'll bite you in the ass on maintanence.

SHO's are only really easy to find at Auctions, and even then, its about $800, but the rape you with Fees, so it ends up costing 1000+ and yea, Basically every Non-Yamaha Engine Component breaks at random intervals over like 125K miles

Don't trust the listings, the cars on their are never accurate, but I was their last week, and there was a Green V-6 SHO there going for $1100, but noone bought it, probably gone by now

the Northern IL Fiero Club had one forsale for 900 in Ohio, I emailed the guy, 170K miles on it though :-\ Looks sharp.

Past that one, most other ones in those clubs are either garage babies that have like 30K miles and are selling for 3-4K+ or are L67 swaps and go for upwards of 8k

I dunno if My insurance would cover the Cutlass, but if its that much, and exhaust is the only problem *There is probably some other stuff I would assume* I'd try to find some way to get it covered.

and as far as the 94 caddy, if it runs, is around same cost, and the problems aren't Critical, I'd definatly look into that too, Thank you!

i will post up tommorow. the cutlass has atleast 5 thousand mile on it before any medium upgrades ( plugs, wires, alternator) it has a performance shift esque thing to. yeah, i will get you prices by sunday at 8 pm

oh, and insurance on it for my buddy with two dui's and drag racing and other multiple tickets was only like 28 a month for only liability

I was going to purchase a 1977 Datsun 280Z a while ago, called up my insurance agency, and was told it was "Too old" and also, I'm a teen, so My insurance is already gonna be 75 a month for liablity on my moms car, and Comp on my dads.

I'm starting to think I need to convince my parents to change Insurance Companies... They are always complaining about them anyways...

but yea, Cutlass would definatly be sweet, and 5K miles would be like 2 months, and I'd easily be Employed by then, and could easily afford keeping it up to speed. Thanks again
