3800 trailing arm

I decided to jack up my car today because I noticed my left wheel being a little closer to the front of the wheel well then the other the trailing arm was bent so I said ohhh no problem I'll have this off in ten minutes...... four hours later I have the trailing arm off but the new trailing arm has a metal insert thing inside the rubber bushing and the stock bolt won't fit through it? the stock trailing arm only had this metal thing on the side that mounts to the frame?

I got the tubular ones form GM.

I mechanic that I know said a lot of people ride around with these trailing arms bent and really dont even know about it.


The hardest thing for me was gettting it off.......Had to use a 6ft jack pole on my socket..........

The pieces were rusty and stuff.........use some lube.

that's not my problem there's a metal thing inside the rubber bushing on the side that connects to the strut spindle thing the bolt won't fit through it...?

Try screwing it in. If its what I think it is, that is threaded and the bolt gets threaded through it and then the nut gets threaded on.

it is a threaded bolt but I can't even fit it through the trailing arm because there's a metal insert thingy inside the rubber part.. the stock unit did not have this it looks like it was made for a smaller bolt then what came off the car?

yeah, oops I just decided to order that handling kit from GMPP so I don't have to go through this again. I can pull/rebuild a motor but I can't replace a trailing arm..

Same thing happen to me when i went to do my trailing arms the bushing sleeve was rusted to the bolt and i couldnt reuse the old bolts anymore...just got new bolts from Ed Morad and all was good

holy shit does GMPD have slow shipping it's been 6 days or so and my parts haven't even SHIPPED yet.. I've been having to walk my ass to the bus stop every morning

I've had good luck with Horizon Chevy in Naperville. I ordered a few things through them (GM performance suspension), and they got it quickly. Their prices are higher, but they don't charge shipping; just an option for you.
