3800 vs cam ?s...springs/ret/pushrods..installer help?

So looking into suggestions here for the VS cam.



105lb springs
pushrods
roller rockers????????? yes or no?
Retainers?

cam install kit with chain/dampner, gaskets etc.....

Should I go electric water pump to few a couple ponies? That or im gunna put a new pump on when the install goes in.



Any intrested installers? Id love to help if that would bring down the price. Really, id just like someone to guide me through it the first time.

I don't think that you'll need 105's, LS1 would probably be fine. You only need that heavy a spring with much higher revs. The VS only makes power to 61-6200 rpm IIRC.

I have VS with ls6 springs. some people with 97's though have had problems with the springs not sitting correctly

I have a 99gtp so what is the part number on GMPP for the LS springs?

How much BTW?


Diavlo, what all else did you put on your car for the cam?

How did the car feel afterwards?

Just put a vs cam in this weekend, I put in 105# springs, retainers, pushrods and hydraulic lifters. Its running good so far put about 200 miles on her. Let ya know on the track results after this weekend

Nothing else was put on my car. I can't really comment about before and after since I had a stock PCM so it didn't feel much but once I got the PCM, things picked up.

you know I just changed everything out while I was in there. Figured I am in there might as well take care of it and upgrade everything or at least replace it. Granted you don't need it with the VS cam, but hey better to be safe then sorry. its not suppose to throw a p0300 either and it does on my car.

I was getting hte p0300 code too. If I was to do it again, I would definently of atleast replaced the timing chain.

yeah I got the whole cam install kit from zzp I think its number 4 and then added the timing chain

yeah I think I said I was just going to lightly mod it a long time ago. Now I got big plans, its an addiction and I love it
