I think the stock stang rearend robs a lot of horse power.

It does rob some, but that 8.8 is an awesome rearend for any power... (one thing Ford definetly did right... as compared to GM putting a minivan rearend in F-Bodies)

There are several people doing conversions of the 8.8 solid axle to work with F-Bodies... almost as strong as a 9" but alot cheaper

Edit:
Also i'm fairly certain that all GTs had the 8.8" live axle that was limited slip (no one tire fire) ... not sure if the V6 models used the same though... the Cobra's use an IRS setup and they are also 2 wheels spinning

Those 8.8's take one hell of a beating.....mine saw launched on slick and a 125 shot all the time....and boy did it hold in there....i was even suprised that the stock clutch was holding!!

Curious on what you ran in the 1/4 on spray

Stock motor with just a cam, headers, full exhaust and a gear, with a 125 shot , 12.30's ..... nothing crazy, but launched pretty hard.
