3800 Rear Drivers side Ratlling noise?????

So I have had this rattling noise from the rear. Anytime my rear drivers side tire goes over a bump it sounds like something is hoping up and back down. So something is loose back there. Is there anything that is commonly loose, that I should check when im back there? Maybe ill just pull off the evap while im there . All suggestions welcomed. Thanx guys.

strut/ strut mount?

So what, just check the top three bolts in the trunk? I know those arent hand loose, because i felt around there before, but ill see what a wrench does on them. What other bolts on the strut would be good to look at?

I have that same problem on my rear passanger side and cant find out what it is. I have a new strut mount and made sure they were tight. I think it might be a bad strut but I hope not. I will find out when i redo my struts and if it keeps on doing this it has to be something linking to it underneath.

i got a similar problem on the drivers side. It sounds more like a creaking sound on my car and i took everthing apart. I think it is definatly a rubber bushing or stut mount in there somewhere. I put new struts and i did not make a difference although i put a little grease on the strut mount and the spring cousion and if made a dig difference for a while. I was probably not suppost to put grease there, but oh well.

yeah I get the same thing every so often haven't been able to find the problem, new struts didn't help

From what I was told it is the strut/strut mount. I have the same problem on both sides in the rear. My Konis that came in today will take care of that though.

Damn it......If it was a common problem, it should have a common fix . I didnt want to hear about every other gp having this problem and no one knowing how to fix it


Well If i figure it out this weekend I will let you know. But the rear tire is coming off this weekend, and things getting banged around. We will see if I find anything.

Hehe, Mike K can probably chime in. He has done his. He was telling me his took a crap on him IIRC.

Mine are really bad. It squeeks when I put it in gear, go over a bump, or accelerate too hard.

So does the strut need to be replaced, or just the mounts? Or are they one piece? I dont know my ABC's about struts yet. But it definitely sounds like its a strut now, i noticed today over small pumps it would squeek....

How would one replace or fix this...

IIRC, the strut mounts can be replaced and still use stock struts. Over 100K on your stockers, Id replace everything just in case. Dont wanna do all that work and have to do it again since a strut went bad.

GAS DOOR!??? IVE HEARD IT BEFORE AND THATS ALL I CAN THINK OF CAUSE MY SUSPENSION IS FINE

I dont think it is the gas door in my case cuz when i have more weight in the back, like a full tank or people it is not very noticable.

Me neither, its to "heavy" of a sound to be the gas door.
