3800 scanning advise needed

that might be it, but the price won't allow me to find out. is it basically saying the i plug in the laptop, the scanner, then just go from there? is that the only way that these peeps get to post there scans on the site here? joel, right, maybe you can scan my car with me and help me determine where i am getting mad kr from.
