Holy crap dude...that's a lot of damage! Not only are the lands showing in spots, but the tops of the pistons show signs of massive detonation. They should be somewhat smooth, they look like the surface of IO from what I can see. I hope the shop that diagnosed the lifters being bad is getting copies of these pics.

113K miles, below zero outside, togs, rockers, 3.25 pully, full exhaust, pcm and anywhere between 2 and 9 KR when WOT...yeah theres a problem somewhere.

This is what kills me...That this was a suspected problem before you brought it in, and the shop decided to tear it down before putting a boroscope in a spark plug hole.

You can rent them...IIRC, not too much to rent. Probably be fairly expensive to buy.

one thing that would be good todo is bring the heads in and have them magnafluxed. Have the heads decked and cleaned up about 40 bucks
