I just joined the ILGPC today, I've been with clubgp for awhile now, but it is nice to talk to members relatively closer :) On saturday morning, I took my car to James Dean Muffler and Brake in La Grange to get my exhaust put on. I've had the mufflers and tips for a few months now just collecting dust in my garage. Anyways, if anyone is thinking about getting a custom catback done, or looking for a place to go. I definitely recommend this guy Jim. He does excellent work and I can post his information if anyone wants. I just wanted to express my happiness on here as well :D For those that also posted on clubgp and told me to go to him, I thank you, cuz I couldn't be happier!

P.S. Just some photos, what do you guys think?!

Is it normal to have that bend where the resonator used to be?

It took me awhile to see what you were talking about, I think i'm getting tired. . .
Um, I guess it may not be normal? But there isn't really anything wrong with that slight bend. . . just noticed it now that you pointed it out :)

Welcome to ILGPC.

Thanks! :D I'm exploring the site to see if there are gatherings or any sort of events. :)

what kiind of bender did he use?  those bends are crimped.  the bend is from not wleding straight....wont do anything to it.

I believe he mandrel bent everything, and I know the slight bend doesn't do anything :)

What kind of tips are those?

APC Stainless Steel 3" Round tips, w/ a double rolled edge

I'll definitely consider that!! I word at the Circuit City in Gurnee Mills in the Audio Department ;) So if you need anything . . . . I live off of Grasslake and Beck, so I lived very close to you. Fun stuff! :D

Welcome :D

I've had 2 of my GP done by him and he has done great work on both.  Glad you liked his work I always recommend him to other members.  Hope to see you around.

Yes I am very happy with everything :D Where abouts do you live in Chicago? I visit my sister who lives on Halsted and Belmont.

how much did it cost all together for the custom exhaust. mufflers tips and everything? would that be more beneficial then going with the slp cat back?

Flowmaster 40's were about $110
Tips I think about $60
Downpipe, tubing, everything else basically by Jim $355

So all together about $525 and that is everything put on and 3" all the way back to the Y which splits into 2.5". I believe you will get the same benefits from either direction you go with as far as flow, but Jim also did a new DP. IMO I think Jim is the way to go, he's left many happy customers :D

Welcome to ILGPC...

Jim over there is great and has done a LOT of the exhausts for ILGPC!!! Glad you are happy with the work

I can see that, wonderful job by him. I told him that he definitely got another recommendation :)

Yea. . . you are a little ways away ;) I'm not looking for any kind of paint job right now, probably can't afford it, but for future reference, I will definitely keep that in mind. I actually want to get a new Ram-Air hood first before I consider any sort of painting. :D

So this included the down pipe as well hu and the u-bend delete was it conctructed by them? How do those flow master sound with the 3" exhaust is it a mellow or loud sound, cuz other wise I might just go with a 2.5" if its to loud?

but then they would have to install it themselves(if they know how) or pay extra to get it installed. Jim has everything installed for $525 but then again if he paid in cash then you might get a discount. ;)
