3800 Extending MAF wires?

OK, so I am selling my mini-afc, and need to extend my maf wires to reach the lS1 TB. Is there any problems with this? What is the stock gauge of the wire? Any other info that i might need?

Also, is it ok to drive without the maf plugged in, around town? I thought it would run the car off the map or something. Let me know, thanx.

I think you can buy the extenstion for that. The only wires you should have to extend are the IAC wires.
i made a 12.80 pass like that, it was unplugged, lol, whoops

Oooopsie my bad. I meant LS1 MAF. All i need to do is extend the maf wires to the MAF sensor. I still have the stock TB. So you made a run with your maf unplugged? So it would be ok to do some errands around town without it, it sounds.

Nice, but i cant see a reason to spend $30 shipped, when I could just extend the wires. No offense, but i am very confident about my wiring skills, and it only needs a 3" extension, not 12".

I dont see any reason I cant extend it, wiring is wiring. Thanx for the responses guys.

Oh i know it is. Im not ripping on it. I would have ordered if i didnt know how to wire. But thanx for the suggestion.

Just splice in some wire, and solder the ends. 18 gauge is stock size if I remember correctly and should work fine. I had a hard time keeping the car idleing when I had mine disconnected. It would die when I let up on the throttle.

Great thanx pimpiumz34. Helps to know it shouldnt screw up anything. Ive heard before of people causing problems by splicing the O2 sensor wiring, just was hoping it wasnt similar.

Watch the wiring to make sure it's not corroded. I had to trim mine back several inches before I found good wire.

Yeah, kept getting an intermittant MAF signal, and TPS signal. I replaced both connectors, and trimmed back the wires, the car ran like a champ. It ended up being the Casper's volt booster was dropping out on me. Trimming back the wires just helped it out a little. I had a beta volts booster on there for a year or two, they replaced it with no questions asked. I like the new one better, the old one was a little too high of an output.
