3800 Tech advice needed

Ok my wife wants a scanner for Xmas, the cheap one we have is to lame. Mostly it will be used to scan photos.
What kind of things should I look for when buying one. Some of these pics she scans cost a lot of money....ie: 4 for $100.00. So quality scans are very high on the needs list.
Also anyone use one of those pen pads for photoshop? She's been working on photoshop and I wondered if this was something she could use.

just get her a ls1m scanner and tell her you thought she meant this type of scanner. Then you can keep it

Tom you can get a decent one at bestbuy for about $100 or less and they are HP's too.

I can get you some names and model numbers of stuff my parents use. They own a photography studio and I know they use high end stuff, and it wasn't insanely priced. I know the scanner is an Epson, and the pen pad I will find out. Lets just hope I can remember between now and when I get home to check lol
