3800 Wireless network...how do I make it secure?

I've got a linksys cable modem and linksys wireless G router hooked up.


MY questions is what all can I do to make it secure from hackers and such?

Is there any way to make it have a password to access it?

Any advice here would be a great help.

MAke sure you enable WEP!.

ALso manually assign an IP addy to your machine and disable DHCP on the router..

To add to that, which every little thing helps.....


1)Disable SSID broadcasts.
2)Enable MAC Address filtering, so that only your wireless cards MAC address can access the router.
3)Try to use WPA encryption over WEP if possible, if your access point's firmware supports it.

how do i assign an IP address to my laptop>
