3800 Car won't start....dead in driveway

OK...so I try to start my car...and its just clicks real fast.


What happens when the fuel pump resistor goes bad?

Starter?


I think the battery is ok, as i have radio and can crank the AC with the key turned forward and it works.


Any ideas?

With all this humidity and rain, it may have just aggrivated a short. Have you tried jumping it yet? Sounds like the starter solenoid it trying to engage, but the starter itself won't turn the motor.

can you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key (before you start the car?)

i'd guess battery.

the radio and other small accessories aren't jack compared to the power required to start the car.

Same. Batt has just enough power to engauge the solenoid, but not enough to crank it.

Charge/replace the battery/jump it.

While you're at it, check the Batt cables, and chassis ground for corrosion too.

thanks everyone.


the positive terminal was completely corroded over. cleaned it with a wire brush and the car started right up. I hadn't drove in in 2 days.

how weird that in 2 days that happened.
