3800 Who remembers this?

This happened awhile back, but some hackers took over the channel 11 WTTW airwaves for about 4-5 minutes. I guess they never found the people that did it even tho the FBI launched an investigation regarding it, but pretty interesting none the less..

It happened sometime in 1987, they took over the airwaves and disrupted the "Dr Who" show. And the character they used, out of all people.... "Max Headroom" :lolsign:

sad but true....i was watching Dr. Who when it happened....ttok a few seconds to figure out what was going on.......

if i remember correctly Sunday nights had Star Trek TNG, followed by Star Trek, original, then Dr. Who on Ch 11

Dr who rocked! as well as Star trek TNG...never really liked the original..but i did watch it. lol

God, I remember being a kid and seeing it on the news that that had happened.
Whats even more weird is for some reason about a week ago that event popped into my head. Stream of consicousness or something, I dunno...

I was reading up more on this also,

Guess they also tried hacking into Ch 9 during the Sports section of the news, they got in for about 25 seconds but then WGN turned off their main transmitters on the Sears Tower and moved over to their backup Transmitters on the Hancock building. Killing the signal for the hacker pretty much..

Unfortunately for Ch 11, they had no backup transmitters anywhere but the Sears Tower and the hacker was able to stay on for as long as he wanted...

I guess they said it was some local college kid, whom was never caught.

Pretty funny stuff...
