I recently took out the manufac. air filter and box out of my 98 gtp, i installed an auto zone 7" cone, it seems like i have lost power because of it, also, my boost does not reach its max...it hoovers one LED light before the max (it used to resch max)...Do i have to oil my s/c??? Can i be loosing hp because i am just getting hot engine air?

The 7" cone is a paper filter, correct? The one that comes in the plastic Blister pack? If that's the case, it's way to low flowing a filter for your car. You'd get better results by gutting the stock box, and putting a panel K&N in, but even that is fairly restrictive due to the box's poor design. Most people get the K&N cone and make a fenderwell intake. It's cheap, and it works well.

I agree with Ron just put back your stock air box and get a K&N filter for the box and you should be fine with that till you get a thrasher or fenderwell intake .

Hey, I got a stock replacement K&N fiter if your interested. It flows well in the stock air box...PM me its like new and I have no use for it anymore.
