3800 Computer Question

if i compress or zip my music into a folder can i put that on disk , it is pretty big over 1.5 gig of music. will the disk size matter if i am using a zip file. or could someone explain the EASIEST way to put my music on a disk... i understand i cannot fit all of the music on 1 single disk ... or can i ?

I'm not sure how much the zip file will compress your music from 1.5 gig, but if you make it a zip file, you can put that zip file on a cd. But you wont be able to play that cd in your car or any cd player. You can transfer it to another computer, then unzip the folder, and extract the files.

thank you for letting me know , as i JUST canceled the transfer .. it was sooo slow.

can you explain to me how to get this music to disk , i know how to burn , but i cannot figure out how to get aLL of this music on disk .

iam using 700MB disks. if that helps at all.

Oh, BTW . i do know that 1.5 gig will not fit on a 700mb disk ... just so i dont look that dumb h34r:

So are you trying to make a Music CD with all your music?

Well, I dont have any idea if thats possible or not, to put it on 1 cd. Last I knew, it wasnt....but havent paid much attention lately to the tech world.

Well if you have an MP3 player, then you can burn all the songs as MP3. Youll be able to get all of your songs on probably 3 cds. But you have to have a cd player that will play MP3's. To burn a cd with MP3's isnt hard. You just have to have the right software. If you have Windows XP, then I think it can do it automatically. I've never burnt and MP3 cd though, so im unsure.

Other option....more expensive. Is to get your self something like an IPOD. Then you can plug your IPOD into any cd player that has input slots, or just listen straight from it.

Thats all I got, unless they have new burning techniques...

i have done it before .. last year , but it was differnt system . i do have XP . (pro) . all i thought i had to do was highlight the files and send them to disk . but it doesnt seem to be working. likei said, i can make cd's with MP3' s but only 17-20 songs on a cd.

basically i want to put "My Shared Folder" on a disc.

Well.. 1.5gb is prolly over 80min of music.. the cd can only hadle 700mb or 80min of music.. which ever comes first... just make 2 or 3 cds.

grab the first 700MB of mp3 files and make a CD outta them, then the next 700MB

When you're burning them you're making a data CD not a music CD... most recording apps will auto convert .mp3 programs to raw format (for playing in a normal CD Player) but if you burn a data CD it'll keep them in .mp3 format

1.5 GB should take just over 2 CDs ... so grab A-K and L-R and S-Z or something like that and label the CDs as such

Data CD ... that is where my problem is . i was trying to make a audio cd..... i will go and try that now iam sure it will work now .
