I'm having issues still with my trans shifting too early... so I sat down w/some paper and figured out the formula I need to determine # RPM it takes to go 1MPH in a particular gear...

TRANS_RATIO(REAR_GEAR_RATIO((5280(1/60))/TIRE_CIRCUMFERENCE))=RPM for those interested)

(Tire width is the first part fyour tire... IE 275/50/15 275 is width, 50 is aspect ratio, 15 is wheel diameter)

For Gear ratios... i don't know what GPs are but my F-Body is 3.06 1.62 1.00 0.70 (with 5th and 6th for manul cars)

Rear gear ratio can be the transaxle ratio

hehe... it's just a gear calculator basically... will tell you what the theoretical top speed in each gear is and it will tell you how many RPMs in a given gear it takes to increase your speed 1 MPH ... as well as your tire diameter and your tire circumference

hmmm... anyone know what the average % loss due to Torque converters is?

My calcs showing max speed for a given gear work for manuals since it's direct drive (unless clutch is slipping)

however for an auto it's not valid since the converter is always slipping unless it's locked....

safe number is considered 20%. I think intense said that thier dyno guy told them 24-25% for a 4500 rpm TC. The gtp is 2.96 final drive (iirc) and the gt is 3.29.
