ok, i really don't want to name names, at least not yet, so forgive me if this post isn't very clear, but i don't want to start calling names or appear to be flaming anyone...
I was in the market for purchasing a part for my GP. I had basically three options- a very low-cost option from a vendor that does NO GP-specific work for our community, a mid-priced option from a reputable GP vendor that does help our community, and a high-priced option from one of those "name brands". I didn't want to go with the high-priced option because the price just seemed absurd to me (almost 5 times the cost of the cheapest and 50% more than the mid-priced one). after doing some reading here, and on the national forum, i decided that the cheapest version would suit my needs, but at the same time i also wanted to help support the GP community. So i decided to purchase the mid-priced option from the GP supporting vendor, thinking that it had to be AT LEAST as good as the cheap one...
so i get the part in the mail and it turns out that it is in fact NOT from the vendor's brain at all. it was simply the cheap one marketed as their own-for more thatn 50% more . The vendor claims that "it is widely known", but nowhere on the website does it even give the SLIGHTEST inkling that what i'm actually buying is NOT their product. In fact, it CLEARLY states that it is the VENDOR's product.
i asked either for a refund (including shipping, because i would NOT have purchased them from this vendor had i known exactly what it was that was being sold) or a refund for the difference between what i paid the vendor and what the actual cost of the piece is. The vendor did not agree to either of these. i have since asked for at least a store credit towards future purchases but have yet to get a response...
what should i do?
