My 2001 GTP has always had a small drip oil leak which is from the oil pan gasket. Recently I noticed a large pool of what I though was oil in the drive way. It was diluted but it was the diameter of a frisby. I brought the car in the garage and lifted it using my ramps. Even for the 20 minutes it was in the air, it accumulated a quarter size pool of oil. Oddly enough, it was located nowhere near the engine, rather it was near the radiator.

I examined the fluid and it has a red tint to it. Looking closer it seems to come from two blistered pipes that run from the transmission into the radiator. The entire bottom level run of these two pipes are rusted and blistered. :rollpicard: I did my best to take photos, and I could be wrong about where the leak is coming from.

Looking directly down from the top of the engine, you see the new dime sized fluid drop

A view from under the car. This is the scrape protector directly under the radiator. Notice the oil begining to drop

Notice the color, that is brownish/red

These next two photos are the best shots I could get of the rusted pipe. It is in the center of the photo

I believe what I need and what is failing is:

I am assuming that this is what is leaking, but I am hoping someone who has been there and done that can confirm my suspicion. Is there any other component I should be looking at? How tough of a job is this? How much would I expect to pay at a shop? The parts seem to round about $80.

Thanks for looking!

Definitely sounds like you're describing the trans cooler lines, and the picture of the part you purchased is definitely that. Make sure you get the right part for your year car, I seem to recall reading something last summer about the fittings having changed on the transmission for the feed/return to the cooler.

You're going to lose a bunch of fluid as well so prepare to have to buy some

I was curious about this and if the shop would want to do a trans fluid flush. I've heard too many horror stories about having the trans flushed and then it fails soon there after. I think I will ask them to not flush it. I know its tough to say but how many quarts do you think I should bring/need? I checked the dipstick and for sure there is fluid in the trans.
