Default 8.34 @ 165 mph twin engine last run this year

Was fighting traction troubles most of the day. The new LS2 MAF made a world of a difference... more than I anticipated. Also cold weather didn't hurt either.
Normally always run in 80-90F temps now it was 65F.
Had the turn the boost way down. ran 8.8 @ 157 mph at only 17 psi !
Then cranked to 24 psi and ran 8.34 @ 165 mph backing off for half a sec at 200 feet.

This is the best official pass of the car on the 1/4 mile. But I already ran a while ago, quicker and much faster 1/8 mile 5.31 @ 138 vs 5.44 @ 131 on this pass.

Mook, Yaj Yak, MIKES3 and 7 others like this.

Biggest dissapointment is never making a full power pass.
Car has a 7 in it I know it. Just been very unlucky. Always something to prevent me reaching the goal..

This time it was the stupid flexplate that got loose. Other times the trans.
Now the trans are working great since my new side cover (4t80e). I think it made a difference. Also lowered power to keep trans happy and worked on traction and power management to get similar ET with less HP.

Next year the 4t80e will have many mods to shift quicker and hold 150-200HP more. I feel like this stock 4t80e with the large side cover could handle at least 800HP no problem. In the vid I'm at around 700-750HP and no problems so far. Just slow shifts.

But next year I will be running 12" wide slicks and 900HP rear and front 800HP front (4t65e-HD with 1" GMR chain)

It was easier to handle with the gtp wheels and narrower stance but it spun more. Also stiffened up the rear suspension.

Im getting happier every outing. But i want to try and fit 12 inch wide slicks for next year and complete my super 4t80e build for up to 1000hp capacity on the rear enginr alone.

You think with the body on, it might help a little with keeping the car straight? One would think?

Yes. But the main traction problem comes from the slicks that are too small. The car with both engines at full power will make well above 1600hp. But hooking up would be reserved for top notch tracks. Here the track does not hook good past the first 200 feet.

With larger slicks it would help hook when the track isnt too good.

Mine are sticky as they come for that size... 1.31 60 foot on a good day. That setup at a good track 1.2 60 foot all day and high 7s easily. But the car is too unorthodox it would not pass inspection at many track unless they let me race exhibition.

Just curious. Whats the ballpark investment in this?

I'm guessing its significantly less than most low 8/high 7 cars.
