3800 Valve Springs...

I just bought some new rocker arms and I also bought the 105 Valve springs for them. What kind of a tool do I need to compress them? Where can I get one. I heard the tool is kind of expensive. How does compressing the springs work? Will they just naturally rise after a little bit? Any info would be awesome. Thanks

The way to do it is fill the cylinder with compressed air to hold up the valve. That isn't a ton of spring pressure. On the older V8's I use to just put a socket over the retainer and push it down, I'd put a pick up magnet in the socket to grab the locks, done. This is the easiest way to do it if it works on these cars.

That's what alot of peops are using on LS1s... should work in the GP motor as well I'd think... very simple tool (could prolly even make yourself if you have the equipment) and works VERY well for doing in car valve spring swaps

I would imgaine they'll work on the 3800s... but anyone here have any opinions on it? would it work?

That looks like it would work fine. I think that was fairly smart thinking. I bet you could make one from stuff at lowes and a drill easily. I may have to try that soon. hmmmm more fun with a drill
