3800 Tracys van is acting up...

well, her van is acting up but every time i get in it, it seems ok but I beleive when she says something is wrong. Since I have not experienced it i can only go on what she says and that is that it hesitates and chugs when when slowing down, stopping or getting going from a stop... kinda seems like it wants to die. when at hiway speed it drives fine.
it is a dodge caravan (97).
I gave it a tune up last summer (plugs, pcv, air filter, plug wires, etc...).

give me some ideas to look at...
she is not throwing an SES light.

fuel filter? would that cause it to act up at low speeds and be ok at hiway? bad injector?
has to be some sort of fuel delivery problem... right??

I would guess fuel pump, maybe look around and see if there have been any recalls on the caravans for that year. How many miles does she have?

Sounds like it could be a EGR vavle problem. You should have the van scanned for codes anyway. Some PCM codes won't throw a light but store in the PCM. Does this happen will slowing down, or braking?

Being a '97, I would check the EGR valve and the fuel filter. But if it was the fuel filter, you would have trouble at highway speeds and acceleration.

If it idles like shit it may be an injector. Plug it in. If the PCM isnt cooreperating with the EGR sensor it usually tosses a code-most models.

Is it possible somthing is clogged, like a cat or air filter? It was a different motor completely, but my Dodge liked to go through PCV valves a lot.

damn! look at it this way... she got her van to almost die when you stop for free... I had to pay alot of money to get my TA to do that hehe
