3800 Relocating Fuel Pump Resistor

Has anyone relocated there fuel pump resistor out from under the battery behind the wheel well? Mine was cracked in half.

yeah it goes up on the firewall..


i think its around 40 bucks from gm.

I have eliminated my FP resistor now for about 8 months with no probs.
I can get you the connectors if you want.

Does the FPR have to go anywhere special? Or can I put it anywhere or just leave it tucked in behind the Window Washer Fluid Resivoir ( I won't do that but just using it as an example). I am about to drive back to Wheaton from OH and would like to hook up the FPR before leaving (instead of driving around with #86 bent out)

If you are going to replace it. MOve it while you are in there. GM sells a relocation kit.

It mounts on the passengers side firewall; Where is will stay free of debris salt..and other corrosive things.

I don't have a drill out here so I have to do it back in IL. I have to relocation kit.

An option would be to use Caspers Fuel Pump Hot Wire Kit which would eliminate the need for the resistor while providing better fuel delivery.

I was looking into the Casper thing, but I am leaving in 3 hours so that isn't an option as of now. Unless it can be shipped here in 3 hours

Yes, I am running the Caspers Fuel Pump Hot Wire Kit with good results. I initially installed the unit to throubleshoot my 'leaning up top' problem which corollated to some KR. While it did not fully solve my particular problem, I did see a benefit from the unit. And as in your case, a side effect benefit is never having to worry about the resistor ever again.
