my buddy and i were trying to think of the old toyota truck name ... like the 88 89 90 models ..the Nissan was the "hardbody' the Mitibishi was the "mighty max" it just wasnt called the Toyota truck was it .. i dont think so , we have been racking our brains for 30 mins or so, to on avail .. it is not the tundra or 4 runner . those are the suv and much newer anyone ?????

I think they were called hardbodies for the construction... There was a 7000. Later there was the King Cab and I think an XE. I don't think they actually named them them till recent years. Don't quote me!!! :blink: They were all just a small pickup. They named them when they started the full size pickup line.

Burtgtp, you were right, oops! I locked in on Nissan. The Toyota is alot the same though. They only had a couple names till the mid 90's.

Hilux - '79 - '83
Pickup/4Runner - '84 - '94
Tacoma - '95

The only other names they've had were:

RAV4
Sequoia
Sienna
Tacoma
Highlander
Tundra
Land Cruiser
4Runner

They did have and "XTRA Cab" on their pickups for the extended cab version.
