3800 exhaust??

over the summer i am gonna get an 3" exhaust setup. I want to keep my tips.. and thats all. Do you suggest I go to Jim to buy stuff there and have him do it? Or should i buy parts seperatley off a site such at pfyc? I just want a full exhaust and keep my tips. Let me know what you can do for me, information-wise.

You can goto Jim, SSP or any exhaust place for that matter, and you can keep your tips.

jim doesnt stock headers. if you want a full exhaust you will need to order SLP's or TOGS.
are you putting the exhaust on just for the sound? if you were going for performance you should save up for something bigger IE: CSC, or a cam, or rockers.

i dont think you are going to need a 3" setup even most gtp's go with 2.5"

well i want like a 70:30 ratio ..sound -> performance... so like nothing thats really expensive... just some sound and some performance. maybe like a $500 setup.. im not sure how much they run.

Hell, maybe i will just go with performance mufflers... im undecided.

Worst case scenario is we could cut, expand, and weld your tips into a new exhaust. TOG's are a good mod.

I got my exhaust for $500 installed and out the door. 3" pipe, High Flow Cat, 2.5" pipe to each Muffler (FLow Masters) and 3" chrome slash tips. NO HEADERS OR DOWN PIPE of course. I think it sounds good, but I also like Flow Masters (don't really know why though).

On pfyc.com i see the dynomax exhaust for under $500. How is that exahust? Any personal experience here?

I agree go with at least a 3'downpipe then 2.5 piping all the way back w/ Magnaflows and you'll get a nice sound of that setup. I had that same set up on my GT.

jim will make the whole thing for you for a hell of a lot cheaper than it would be to buy a premade kit

Ive been asking around the firebird v6 guys and everyone that has 3" header back exhaust say they do not regret it and it was a waste going 2.5" Then again they are RWD and we are FWD. So I dont know if it would make a difference.

SyP.... I got mine installed at a shop out here in the STICKS!!!!!!! LOL....... They had everything at the shop. They speacialize in hot rods and do good work.

you'll be fine with 2.5 trust me there are some GTP's running 2.5 so dont worry..

If SOME supercharged guys go 3 inch to the Y, why would a GT do the same? It doesnt make sense.


I highly doubt he is guying to put a CSG package to justify that Diameter pipe.

I think to many people are to nuts over the bigger = better syndrome....not the case with exhaust unless you can support it.

We did mine in 3" for the sound. I got a nice deep sound from it which I really like. For a GT, I'm sure the power gain is minimal at best. I'm all show and no go!!!!!
