3800 Car running like S*#!

A couple nights ago I floored my car and it just didn't seem like it was going anywhere. I was doing about 55 on the highway. Tonight, I gave it another try just to see if the same problem occured. When i floored it, the car hesitated real bad. It sounded like a bunch of popping coming out of my exhuast. So I was just like hmm, one more try, the last time, so at 65 I floored it again and it did the same thing and then my ses light came on.

The only thing that comes to mind is that on the last two tanks I have filled up, I put meijer gas in. When I put that gas in, my car has been running a little rough. It could be coincidental, and yes, I do put premium in my car. Is it a chance that I could of gotten bad gas from the station?

depends when you got the gas... their gas is usually pretty good...

remember if you are having any problems with you car at all.. it will be multiplied with this type of weather... the cold air.. will make you run leaner, which equates to more knock. The lack of power, is your car seeing knock.

I dont know if it is the gas but i have noticed that premium gas at all places justg doesnt work. I have found Mobile to be the best in my area.

i forgot, maybe this will help out a little, on new year's eve, thalord scanned my car and i was seeing about 7 to 8 degrees of kr. when driving normal my car seems fine, it's just at wot that is sucks.

Most likely you are seeing a lot of knock. 7-8 degs of kr is not safe. You need to do something to fix that kr. Also sounds like you might have a misfire or something going on in there also.

I read in the other thread that you are getting misfires on cylinder 1. Have you replaced the wires lately. I switched plugs once and messed up a wire. Didn't know it until I got on it. It ran like total crap. Once I swapped the wire it ran fine.

damm thats a lot!

what are your mods again?

after my DHP and CAI about 4 months ago, I dropped from a pretty constant 5kr or so to around 1.9kr....only at the shift points......I was happy B)

You need to get rid of that open cone and get a FWI, or CAI.

Also aDHP might help you out with fuel delivery so you dont run to lean in the higher rpm ranges which will cause you to get KR.

I was seeing 4-7kr w similar mods last summer, then I got a CAI, DHP, COLDER PLUGS, RVTB, TB spacer/shield, and then I was seeing 1-2kr at the shift points only, which from what i understand is pretty normal.

With my TOGs now, I must not be getting anything cause it pulls away like a rapped Gorrila now.

Still looking for a time for someone to Atap me.

Sounds like wires. You planning on going to the mod day?? When you replaced the spark plugs, did youput di-electric grease on the ceramic part of the plug?? I didn't and fought with cracked plugs for weeks. Same symptoms as you are having. If you didn't put di-electric grease on then go buy two new plugs, pull the old ones, and find the one with the crack. Put di-electric grease on every plug. I will bet that is the problem, else its the wires.

I just put the autolite 104's in after i saw my car was mis-fireing. not i didn't know put that de electric stuff on, but, at the mod day, i am going to regap them at 56 or 57. i gapped them at 54 and found that is kind of small. so i can then slap on that grease.

ill try to bring some if I remember. We can get those plugs out, gapped, and installed in 20 minutes no prob. After my misfire problems I have gotten it down to a science.
