Can someone explain to me what is the difference (when racing) when starting in 2nd (or 3rd) rather than Drive.. Don't they both still start at 1st gear, and make its wya up? Im clueless

So then racing at a stoplight.. what would u suggest i do for gear setups.

Well I always start in second. Just because I read the drag racing thing on zzp's webapage. I mean it seems to help but maybe its placebo. I still do it everytime I race.

keeping it in 3rd will make it so the car will not shift into 4th. This is only really helpfull with a stop pcm, because an aftermarket one will raise the shift points.

when your car is sorta close to stock, you will be able to keep it from shifting into 3rd, by putting it in 2nd. I say close to stock because the faster you get, you will have to shift into 3rd by the end of the 1/4 mile.

when i ran my 13.98, i held 2nd as long as i could, and shifted into 3rd right before it hit the rev limiter....around 6k. otherwise the stock pcm shifts before you reach the rev limiter.

Holding it in 2nd opposed to drive, I think I read somewhere, you can shift 200 rpm's higher.

if you dont have a PCM than manuel shifting helps....also dont forget to turn off the TCS button!

Just manually shift...either way with your GT and a stock PCM, it will always shift from 1st-2nd whether you're in 1st gear or drive. The only thing I have noticed is that it doesnt do the 2-3 shift if the gear selector is in 2.

Drive or 2nd or 3rd, your GT PCM will always start in 1st gear.

no... i putit into first gear.. it hit a little above 6000 rpms.. then the car start to shut down... good thing i put it into D. It doesnt shift to 2nd gear from 1st in my experience.
