3800 NEED HELP with purchasing a DVD burner

I have a DEll at work and currently have a DVD on it. I want to get rid of it and purchase a DVD durner. Anyone have any ideas on a good priced one or a decent brand that is compatible with DELLS?

i'm in the DVD burner search also and have a dell....my friend got a Sony one..have to find out what kind but bought it for $200 something with a rebate.

Based on my experience thus far i'd go w/Sony...

I bought a cheap BackPack DVD+R drive first... brought it home... installed on my laptop w/USB 2.0 PCMCIA card... wouldn't work... ok no biggee prolly an issue w/the card...

SO I install on my 500Mhz Celeron W2K Server box... it has a PCI USB 2.0 card in it and had another USB 2.0 CD Burner attached already working great... still couldn't get the damn thing working... after 2 days of messing w/it and ruining several DVDs due to partial burns or failures I brought it back and got the external Sony USB 2.0 DVD+/- R/RW drive... thing is awesome... burns both + and - R media, rewritable and write once media...

I've heard alot of good things about the Sony Internal one too... so I say stick w/what works and go sony

I just picked up a Pioneer DVD-/+RW from newegg. Got it for $131 shipped. Lite-on has some on there for about $20-30 cheaper. I have never used a lite-on DVD writer but I have had GREAT luck with their CD-RW drives. I bought the DVD burner for a gift for christmas... I will let you know after then how it works!

I just bought a BUSlink-Internal DVD R/RW/CDR/CD-RW Drive-DVRW412L
DVD functions: 4x:4x:12x
CD functions: 40x:24x:40x

Got it at best buy for 130$ and got a 30$ rebate.

pretty nice drive for the $$
