Installing Roof Rails

Picked up a set of rails and cleaned the channel with goo gone and used denatured alcohol to clean both surfaces after. I used 3M 1/2" automotive tape and it sticks to the car fine but not to the plastic rail. The rear never would stick even after being held down by tape for a few hours to keep pressure on it. I've heard people use epoxy to hold them better. Any suggestions?

I always hear people use the tape, The rails should follow the curve of the roof and not really pop up. Did you put them on backwards maybe?

Expired? I used the 3m tape. I say try and but another package and try again.

I installed them correctly, the flat section toward the windshield. 1/2" is the right width to use right?

8/16" automotive tape...isnt that the same thing as 1/2"? Where would i get that...i didnt see it at autozone. Also does the whole rail need to be taped or just sections spaced out every few inches? I've been laying tape in the channel first would I need to tape the rail first?

So I tried 1/2" 3M automotive tape from autozone as well as 1" 3M extreme strength double sided tape and both with no luck. Just the rear part of the rail on each side won't stick. The middle and fronts are solid. Prepped the surface with alcohol both times. I heard of 3M very high bond tape which I may try although its $30/roll. Would you guys do the tape or just epoxy them and get it over with?

You could have left and right switched. I've never seen someone have the issue your having installing these.
