it is also the only functional key i have for the car- i have a spare that i had made that doesn't have the "chip" in it...

what is easiest/cheapest way to get this resolved?

yeah i have the one to open the door- i have a copy of the key cuz i had it copied forever ago- it won't run the car though.


unless i just get rid of that aspect of the car... how hard is that to do- get rid of the security from the pk3 system basically.

dont open your trunk by lifting with the key?

you can pop the lock out of the lid easily and a few slaps against a desk should dislodge the broken portion

iirc just have that broken stub near/next to your spare key when you start it and the pk3 should query the chip just fine so try starting with your spare next to the broken one

Go to a locksmith or an Ace hardware that can progam PK3 and VATS keys. They can program a new key for you off the broken one, and use the spare you have to make the copy. Shouldn't be more than $50, dealer will want 3x that.

my other idea was to get a security pk3 remote starter bypass key dealio...

put the "chipped" key into it, bypass the pk3 action, and then just be able to use any old key without a chip.
